For the first step in recovery, Wellbrook Recovery, Wisconsin offers a dignified inpatient drug and alcohol detox program usually lasting 4-7 days. Upon arrival, clients are greeted by a charge nurse trained in addiction care who conducts an initial assessment and care initiation.

Clients undergo daily assessments and substance withdrawal care by a team including a Doctor, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, RNs and certified addiction specialists, providing comprehensive withdrawal management and comfort interventions, including medications as needed. During their safe and comfortable detoxification process, clients have the option to participate in therapy groups and receive assistance in coordinating next steps.

The length of a program varies depending on the individual, the specific substance used, and their overall health. At Wellbrook Recovery, our inpatient drug and alcohol detox typically lasts between four to seven days. During this time, our expert clinical team—led by doctors, psychiatric nurse practitioners, and registered nurses—conducts daily assessments to monitor your withdrawal symptoms. Because addiction recovery is a highly personalized process, we continually adjust your care and medications to ensure you remain as comfortable and safe as possible throughout the stabilization period.

Detox is a critical first step that stabilizes your body, but it is only the beginning of the recovery journey. After you safely complete detox, our team works closely with you to coordinate the next steps and build an individualized treatment plan. For many, this means a seamless transition into our on-campus program, where you will engage in intensive group and one-on-one therapy to address the root causes of addiction. As you progress, your continuum of care may also include our and to help you build sustainable coping skills and safely reintegrate into everyday life.

Wellbrook Recovery’s dedicated, on-site inpatient medical detox program is located at our Brookfield, Wisconsin facility. This all-gender center offers private detox rooms, 24/7 nursing care, and comprehensive residential and outpatient services. For individuals seeking care at our male-only , we facilitate medical detox and withdrawal stabilization through a trusted partner program when necessary. Once you are medically cleared, you can transition directly into our Ohio residential or outpatient programs.
