Addiction Therapy and Counseling
Therapy helps people explore the thoughts, emotions, experiences, and behaviors connected to substance use. It also provides opportunities to practice coping skills, strengthen relationships, and work toward recovery goals.
At Wellbrook Recovery, treatment plans may combine behavioral therapies, individual and group counseling, and trauma-focused approaches. The clinical team selects approaches based on each person’s needs and adjusts the plan as treatment progresses.
Therapies Used at Wellbrook Recovery
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Cognitive behavioral therapy, or CBT, helps clients recognize connections between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Sessions can focus on responding to triggers, managing stress, and changing patterns linked to substance use.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy
Dialectical behavior therapy, or DBT, develops skills in mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal communication. These skills can support coping and healthier responses to difficult situations.
EMDR Therapy
Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, or EMDR, is a trauma-focused therapy. The clinical team may include it when a person’s trauma history, needs, and readiness make it appropriate.
Trauma Informed Therapy
Trauma-informed care recognizes that past experiences can affect a person’s sense of safety, relationships, and coping. This approach emphasizes choice, collaboration, and sensitivity to those experiences during treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions
How Are Therapies Chosen?
The clinical team considers substance use, mental health, trauma history, goals, and treatment progress. Not every client receives the same combination of therapies.
Will I receive both individual and group therapy?
Individual and group therapy are part of Wellbrook’s treatment approach. The schedule and balance depend on the program and the person’s treatment plan.
Is trauma focused treatment appropriate for everyone?
No single therapy is appropriate for everyone. The clinical team considers a person’s needs and readiness before recommending a trauma-focused approach.

"It might be a different type of breathing technique that you need, or just whatever helps ground you." Deep breathing. Fidgeting. Pausing to ask what's next. Small tools, real impact, a reminder from our team on getting through an anxious moment. #WellBrookRecovery #RecoveryMonth
